Passu Glacier

 Passu Glacier is another one of the famous peaks here, which is about twenty and a half kilometers long. Passu Cones in winter gives a look like white giants standing on the earth, along with Passu glaciers it becomes a more beautiful scene.

Passu Glacier is spread over about 115 sq. kilometers. The visible peak at the far end is the Passu peak which is 7478 meters (24,534 ft.) high. It was first climbed by Captain Sher Khan (Later Colonel) who was part of a joint Pakistan and Japan army expedition in 1978.

Batora Glacier

 There is another glacier named Batora or Batoro right behind the Passu Cones which is about 55 kilometers long.

 If we discuss glaciers of the world so let me tell you that after the Polar region glaciers Pakistan is the country which has the longest glaciers in the Himalaya series of mounts. Famous glaciers are Batore glacier, Baltoro glacier, Siachen glacier, etc.

I saw Local people here are very strong and healthy as far as I know it all because of the hygienic environment here like clean water to drink from glaciers, open and fresh air without pollution, fruits, and vegetables, etc.

You can see a river called the Hunza river which is coming by melting these glaciers. It becomes the Gilgit river as it crosses Hunza, then after it meets with the main river called River Sindh coming from Skardu.

Passu Cones Gilgit Pakistan has numerous points and view locations that you will not forget in your whole life by passing Hussaini village on Karakoram highway you will see cones shape mountains, standing straight like talking to the sky.

You can see peaks covered with white shiny snow from very far on KKH then it comes to a place  Passu Cones Gojal. you can see Passu Cones right from the road but if you want to see the gigantic Passu glacier you will have to trek.

Passu Cones Weather

 Passu Cones weather becomes very hard in winter as it gets closed for tourists due to heavy snowfall here. But in summer when every coming day becomes warmer than previous in all over Pakistan, the temperature here remains very low as 5 to 12 Celsius.
