Attabad Lake Accident

I will take you to the magnificent Attabat lake which was created after the unfortunate natural disaster in 2010. A horrendous, terrifying, and horrible landslide engulfed Attabad along with four other villages. 25,000 people were displaced and 20 lost their lives.

Pakistan and China lost their connection with each other on the Karakoram highway, so it disrupted all trade and travel between countries.

Initially, access to the other side was resumed by boat crossings over the lake until the 27 million us dollar restoration program was completed.

The horrific disaster is always at the back of my mind every time I come to visit this place, the agony and immense pain the residents must have gone through, saddens me.

But it comforts my heart the most when it comes to my mind that this site has now become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Pakistan.

Attabad Karakoram Highway

The Karakoram highway also known as the Pak-China friendship highway originates from Hasan abdal. Leading its way right up to the 4693-meter Khunjerab pass and eventually becoming the China national highway.

It is 1300 kilometers long and has one of the highest paved roads in the world. It passes through some of the most spectacular and stunning mountain ranges and terrains to connect Pakistan and China. Due to this reason, it is also known as the eighth wonder of the world.

Attabad Lake Bridges and Tunnels

I will tell you about five tunnels called Pak-China friendship tunnels as well. The total length of these tunnels is seven kilometers.

Many precious Chinese and Pakistani lives were lost during the construction of the Karakoram highway. You will be able to see their resting places along the road at various places.

Pakistan and China are friends forever. And the tunnel continues and these beautiful blue waters that you can see right in front of you when you pay a visit to this magnificent place is that Attabad lake.

Aqua blue color what a beauty this beautiful place is. These are very popular tourist destinations now.
