This path is surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. Asaf Jah Tomb is a beautiful building with Mughal-style architecture. The building is about four hundred years old and its construction began in 1641 and was completed in 1645, a period of four years.
Asif Jah's Biography
Asif Jah, whose real name was Mirza Hassan, was the commander of the Mughal army. He later became the Governor of Lahore.
To gain the throne, Asif Khan helped King Shah Jahan against Prince Shehryar. Prince Shehryar was the son-in-law of Queen Noor Jahan, whose daughter Arjumand Bano later became Shah Jahan's wife and whose tomb is located at the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Asif Jah was the son of Mirza Ghiasuddin and brother of Queen Noor Jahan. Asif Zah died in 1641.
Style or Shape of the Tomb
The mausoleum building is beautifully constructed. It was built in an 'octagonal' style, meaning the building has eight sides and a door on each side.
The most unique thing about this tomb is its dome, this dome is its true identity. If you look closely at this dome, it looks like an onion structure which is called Bolbous in English.
Initially, the entire mausoleum was made of red marble, while the floor of the mausoleum was made of white limestone called marble.
And on it were many kinds of stones. Inside, the walls of the tomb were made of stone called cloudy stone. The dome of the tomb was very beautiful, decorated with blue and shiny tiles.
Asif Jah's Tomb: Then and Now
In the Sikh era, the same thing happened to this building as it did to the tomb of Noor Jahan. That is, precious stones, decorative carvings, and even blue tiles on the dome were looted from the tomb.
The building is in a very dilapidated condition today and the mausoleum is completely deserted. Its dome is broken in many places, and it is overgrown with bushes. Cracks have appeared on the walls of the tomb and the carvings on them have often disappeared.
The condition of Asif Jah's grave inside is also very bad, once upon a time rubies, sapphires, and emeralds were attached to it, but now everything vanished.
