Neela Butt Bagh, AJK
Historic Neela Butt is a tourist destination in the Bagh district of Azad Kashmir near Dhirkot, situated at an altitude of 6600 ft (2000 m).
It is a calm and peaceful hill station where people come and spend their valuable time to make it memorable and precious in a pleasant environment.
Nelabut (locally Neela But) area has the same value and importance in history as the Greater Iqbal Park formerly Manto park has its importance in the formation of Sovern country Pakistan and its independence.
This is the place where often people come for tourism to admire the marvelous scenic views, which nature has blessed to this piece of land, and to pay tribute to their forefathers (martyrs) who sacrificed their lives for freedom.
Neela Butt history
This place of Neela Butt is historically famous because it is the place from where Sardar Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Sahib, also known as Mujahid I, declared war for the overthrow of Dogra rule under "Kashmir Banega Pakistan" movement. And 32,000 square mile area was liberated from the Dogra rule as a result of that. This is the place where Raja Muhammad Latif Khan got the honor of the first martyr as well.
Is Neela Butt Worth visiting?
It is one of the highest tourist destinations in the Bagh district where you can see greenery all around in a pleasant atmosphere. It is a viewpoint of high lush green mountains all around which includes Ganga Choti, Toli Peer, Murree hills, etc.
You can also see Pandu peak from here which is located in both areas of Kashmir, which includes Azad Kashmir administrated by Pakistan, and Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Along with enjoying snow-capped tops of mountains all around you will be stunned by seeing white clouds beneath you. By seeing these amazing views your heart will automatically praise and glorify the Lord.
It will give you feel like you are traveling in an airplane at the highest altitude, above the clouds.

The weather here remains cool and attractive all year and receives snowfall in the winter season as well from the end of November to the end of January, sometimes it prolongs up to the month of February.
Best time to visit Neela Butt
Neela Butt remains to open a year all-around to welcome tourists with open hearts, But it gets closed on some odd days when it becomes inaccessible due to heavy storm-like snowfall. Most of these days include from December end to mid of January.

Facilities for tourists
The tourism and archaeology department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has constructed a resort here to facilitate tourists and boost tourism in this area named Tourist Lodge Neela Butt that you can rent at a minimal cost.
Along with this, there are some other hotels and huts as well for tourist's accommodation and stay, that can cost from PKR 1000 to 3500 per day.
Bara-Dari, A Monument to Independence
In August 1991, at this immense beautiful place, a monument was constructed by Pakistan to pay tribute to martyrs and in memory of that historic event to get freedom from Dogra rule which is known as "Nela But Bara-Dari".

It is a Camp or hut-like white building which has 12 windows (three windows on each side of the building). White marble is used in its construction and design. It is painted with green color in some parts of it which adds to its beauty.

Nelabutt is located in the west of the Bagh district of Azad Kashmir, at a distance of 19 km from this city and 6 km from the Dhirkot area of Bagh in Azad Kashmir.
Cautions
It is better to use some sunblock creams along with a hat and umbrella there to avoid skin-burn.
