Fort Munro is what locals call "Fort Mando". The area is 85 km from Dera Ghazi Khan and 185 km from Multan. The city offers a beautiful blend of beautiful Seraiki and great Baloch culture. It is situated in the Sulaiman Mountain range of central Punjab of Pakistan.

Why is it called Fort Munro?
The city was originally settled by General Andrew Aldcorn Monroe of the British Army. It is said that by historians one of his employees was a resident of present-day Dera Ghazi Khan.
When John Monroe arrived at this place on the advice of his employee, frightened by the heat, he was just amazed to see its beauty and decides to stay here with his family. It is called fort Munroe because of the arrival of General Monroe and his stay in this area with his wife.

Although the fort here was built by Sir Robert Sandman in 1869, General Munroe is responsible for the settlement and most of the development work here, which is why the area is named after him. The path he took to reach here is still there today and the locals call it "Royal Road".
Influenced by the climate of the area, the general decided to make a road to the hilltop here. This peak is known today as "Anari Point". Munro also has an artificial lake called also known as "Dames or Damas Lake".

It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Fort Munro from Multan as it is located about 185 km from Multan. The easiest route to reach Fort Munro from Multan is N-70 (National Highway) that will lead you to your destination via Muzaffar Garh, D G Khan, and Sakhi Sarwar.
Fort Monroe history
Fort Munro, a beautiful resort, is alive with its ancient name Anari in history and was headed by Leghari (Aliani) Tamandar. The area is considered the home of the ancestors of the late former president Farooq Ahmed Leghari.
This Sardar used to be the master of black and white of Balochis but now it is not so. Now Balochis are becoming conscious, independent, and educated. Zartaj Gul, who won from NA191 against the Leghari chiefs on PTI ticket, is a living example of the awakening consciousness in the people here.
Remember that the city of Murree is seven and a half thousand feet above sea level, while Fort Munro is also located at an altitude of six and a half thousand feet.
Due to its beauty and snowfall, this city is called Murree of South Punjab. Here Anari Hill, Damas Lake, Pyala Bagh, and Fort Munro's market are worth visiting places.
The city is superior to Murree for a number of reasons. Unlike Murree, the people here are very friendly, hospitable, and full of love.
