One of the three highest mountain ranges in the world is known as the Karakoram Mount range. It begins at Jaglot in Gilgit, near the Pakistan-China border, and ends northeast on the Karakoram Pass.

It is a mountain range with some hazardous, snowy, tallest, biggest, rarest, longest, and greatest mountains in the world as well as the highest elevated paved highway known as Karakoram Highway formerly Silk road also adds to its beauty and make it very special.

A European tourist was asked by a British media representative what happened in Pakistan that drew you here. The answer was that I have heard a lot about many beautiful places in Pakistan. But no one can imagine the curiosity to see K2 mountains.

I was stopped by my friends but I felt helpless in the face of the anxiety of seeing him. I also know that I will not be able to climb this great mountain. But there is no obstacle in seeing it.

Hunza Valley

Gilgit Baltistan is located in the north of Pakistan that's why it's known as the northern area of Pakistan as well. People of Hunza valley are the most humble, hospitable, literate, healthy people who live more than a normal man's life in Pakistan because of their atmosphere, climate, hygienic food, and their daily activity.

K2 or Shah Gori Mount

The regional name for the highest peak of Karakoram mount range is "Shah Ghori". In the local language, Shah Ghori means king of the mountains.

K2, World second highest mountain

It has the distinction of being the highest peak in Pakistan and the second highest in the world. Its height is 8611 meters (28,250 feet).

K2 Name

When in 1856, the British government, through geologists Godon Austin and Col. T.G. Montgomerie, conducted a survey to measure the dimensions of India. So Col. T.G. Montgomerie named the peak "K2" after the "K" of the Karakoram.

Earlier, the mountain range was named after the explorer Godwin Austin, and was called "Godwin Austin Mountain". Now there is a glacier by that name.

Capmulapba Mountain, Daip Sang, and Chhoguri in the Baltistan language also belonged to its names.

First Climbed

K2 is far more difficult and hazardous than the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. Climbers also call it the "Cruel Mountain Peak" because of the steep climbs and rugged slopes.

So far, 2,282 climbers have climbed Mount Everest. However, Only 246 climbers have dared to climb the K2. Reaching this peak is accompanied by extremely unfavorable weather and deadly climbs. Its almost vertical ascent is a huge obstacle. Several climbers had to wash their hands of their lives.

Until a few days ago, no one could climb for K-2 in winter. But Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara (RIP) set the record by climbing in the winter. The highest peak, Mount Everest, has been climbed several times in the winter.

Bottleneck

"Bottleneck" is one of the most dangerous climbs with countless fatal accidents. Eleven climbers from different countries lost their lives in an accident at this place in 2008. In fact, the hotel is one of the highest glaciers in the world.

Bottleneck

One in five steppings on this pyramid-like mountain peak loses its dark life. The first attempt to climb the K2 was made in 1902 but failed. After the failure of several other groups and then on July 31, 1954, Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni, who joined an Italian team, managed to claim the honor.

Abruzzi Ridge

Abruzzi Ridge

They took the "Abruzzi Ridge" route to the head. This glacier is named after Godwin Austin. K2's base camp is just eight kilometers from Concordia. It is the junction of the Godwin Austin, Baltura, and Abruzzi glaciers.

There are more than 60 peaks in the Karakoram range at an altitude of more than 7,000 meters. While their length is about 500 km.

Biafo Glacier

The Indus is the most important river in the Karakoram Range. There are huge glaciers in this mountain range. These include Siachen, Hesper, Baltoro, Biafo and Batura.
